Training Philosophy
“Dressage is made up of
movements and exercises that should become a dance… a dance cannot
be forced… or the beauty will be lost…” (George Theodorescu)- One
must feel it!
A successful rider must have endless patience and passion for both the horse and the
art of Dressage. Correct basics are an absolute before effective
performance can be obtained and maintained.
While Trainer Melodye Sweetin uses as her basic foundation the German and
French System, she emphasizes a greater softness in style and in her
relationship to her mount. This is a characteristic instilled by
George Theodorescu, who adapted it to the German style of
Dressage Riding to better suit his own temperament. As a component of that philosophy, the welfare of the horse is always first and foremost. Trainer Sweetin has endless patience for both horse and rider… and her
passion for Dressage is incredibly contagious.
